You're goth, but you hate labels.
You love the goth thing - the clothes, the music, the 'back story', but you dont want outsiders calling you names.
So when you're in conversation with one of these numpties, and they say "yeah, but you're a goth" as if it explained everything about you, you feel like sinking your teeth in them, sucking the last dregs of what little life they have out of their useless bodies - but you resist the temptation, never know what you might catch!
But there's no denying it, label or not, you ARE goth, and you mix with other goths, for choice (it's just easier). Not that you call them goths - no labelling allowed - they're just your friends.
Like Count Kermit might have said "it's not easy being goth", cos the label thing ain't just about being labelled by others. It's also about clothes with free advertising on the OUTSIDE. Yeuch, the amount of work it takes to get those #*!?ing labels off without leaving a telltale mark is insane.
How did you get to this? Maybe it started off with a fascination for dragons and bats and dark, spooky places. Maybe your parents were bikers and taught you the virtues of black, and skulls and candles. Or maybe you had to turn your back on a family that was so full of hypocrites they made you feel like throwing up. However you got here, it's done, finished, no turning back. Black is your colour, your home is a dungeon and you're more likely to have bats in your belfry than butterflies.
It's a great life (or should that be undeath?), so don't let any offish chav tell you otherwise - just live it.

'Jekyll and Hyde' brings gothic horror to Bluffton (Island Packet)Though days have passed since I joined the audience at the May River Theatre for the matinee performance of "Jekyll and Hyde," the musical based on the gothic horror story by Robert Louis Stevenson, the menacing, almost unearthly sounds of Mr. Hyde's breathing and the carrying power of his voice still play in my memory. Spine chilling. Ihear Daniel Cort as Hyde say, sardonically, "sympathy ... ...
